Do you think that we, Americans, should get back to "Citizen-legislators", and away from "Professional Politicians"?
Yes, citizen-legislators are what our Nation's founders had in mind.
No, only professional politicians know how to run the government.

Michael Paul Williams Does it Again

February 28, 2005

Richmond Times-Dispatch
submitted via e-mail

Dear Sir,

I must comment on the most recent efforts of Michael Paul Williams to blame President Bush for any- and everything that he finds wrong with our culture (HIV rate constitutes a crisis - February 28, 2005 - page B1).

I beg your pardon for my bluntness, but Mr. Williams is a racist idiot. Is there anything wrong with our culture/society that he doesn't think George Bush is responsible for!? Now I'm no big Bush fan, but let's place blame where it lies. If Mr. Williams wants to talk about the unprecedented growth of the federal laviathan he could bring up Bush's name. If he wished to comment on the lunacy of granting illegal aliens amnesty, then Bush could again be held accountable. However, to blame Bush for the proliferation of HIV/AIDS among the black community here in Virginia paints a picture of a man so consumed by his hatred of the president that he has lost his mind.

Mr. Williams makes passing comments about who really is to blame for the continued spread of this disease (black men themselves), but then goes right back to lambasting Bush for doing nothing about it. What, exactly, is Bush supposed to do? Spend more taxpayer's money to tell black men how to stop having sex with infected partners!? Explain, yet again, how the injection of illegal drugs with needles is risky? How many times, in how many ways, does this information have to be disseminated before those who are infected, or may become infected, get the message?

I understand that there is a first amendment to the Constitution that guarantees the right to free speech and so Mr. Williams may spew his venom as he wishes. However, couldn't the Times-Dispatch be a little more discerning when they select people who write for it's newspaper?

Sincerely,

Floyd C. Bayne
