Kerry's Church Visit Reveals Democrat HypocrisyP.O. Box 85333 Richmond, VA 23293 Attn: Editor of the Editorial Page Dear Sir, I trust you are well. Please allow me to use your publication to vent my spleen yet again. In today’s edition of the Times-Dispatch is an article on page A7 Titled, “Sunday sermonizing (Kerry seeks votes in black churches while Edwards on talk TV)”. This article relates to the reader how Kerry attended one service at a church for “Haitian Catholics” and then attended, along with Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson, another service at a Baptist Church, both in Miami. The purpose of these visits was not to worship, but to advocate for Mr. Kerry. Kerry himself gave a speech from the pulpits of each church. I wish to ask those democrats and “undecided’s” reading this if they can explain the duplicity of the democrat candidate and his electorate regarding this hypocrisy. For those with a short memory, and that would be far too many Americans, it was about two months ago that People United for the Separation of Church and State filed a lawsuit against Jerry Falwell and his church for daring to urge his parishioners to vote for the Bush/Cheney ticket. PUSCS wishes to punish Mr. Falwell for violating his church’s tax-exempt status by getting involved in politics. Bear in mind that Mr. Falwell did this through his church newsletter, not from the pulpit. I wonder how long it will take PUSCS to file a similar suit against Mr. Kerry, Sharpton, Jackson, the Democrat Party, and the preachers of the churches in question? Surely if a newsletter urging a vote for a certain candidate is a violation then an appearance at the pulpit by a candidate and his minions qualifies as well. If it does not then I would like for someone to explain to me why it doesn’t. Anyone willing to bet that no money was collected from the parishioners in attendance, to go to the Kerry/Edwards campaign? Wake up and smell the inconsistency people. Sincerely, Floyd C. Bayne
