Dear Mr. Watkins,

I trust all is well at the House of Delegates. I write regarding your recent bill about a regional government.

I console myself by assuring myself that you introduced this legislation with the best of intentions, however I must convey to you my opposition to your idea.

As one who has little trust in or respect for our governing bodies as a whole, I find the idea of another layer of government most disconcerting. I prefer the current method whereby my elected representatives are local and directly accountable to me and not some far reaching regional constituency.

I hope that this legislation fails and that the seeming need to introduce legislation for it’s own sake may come to an end in my lifetime. As one of your constituents I just thought you would like to know my feelings on the matter.
