Floyd's Opinion
To Senator Martin regarding the 2003 General AssemblyThis was sent to my State Senator just prior to the 2003 General Assembly Session. January 7, 2003
The Honorable Stephen Martin Dear Senator Martin, I trust this letter finds you well and having enjoyed a wonderful holiday season. I write to you regarding the coming General Assembly Session. As a constituent who voted for you I simply wish to make you aware of my feelings on some matters before the Assembly this year. First, I would ask that you continue to support efforts to repeal the ban on concealed carry in restaurants. I am sure that Assemblyman Ware will welcome your support. Second, I would make you aware that any reduction in our tax rates, of any kind, are welcome and necessary if we are to remain a truly free people. Third, Please ask your fellow legislators to stop profiling me, and others like me, just because we choose to own, or purchase, or sell firearms. While it is not politically correct to profile anyone else in our society for any reason, I continue to be seen as a "crime problem" because I exercise my second amendment rights. Thus Senator Marsh’s attempts to further stigmitize me are greatly resented. And finally, for now, please make Governor Warner aware that I do not need a "nanny" looking after me. His desire to make the failure to wear a seatbelt a primary offense is so transparent as to be laughable, if it weren’t so onerous in it’s effects. It is nothing more than another source of revenue for the State coffers. Let’s just call a spade a spade, shall we. I thank you for your attention to these matters and for your continued efforts on behalf of all freedom loving Virginians. Yours for liberty, Floyd C. Bayne
