Unhappy with Chesterfield County Republican PartyNovember 5, 2003 (e-mail) Mr. Hoeft, I am writing to make you aware of my thoughts regarding yesterdays election results and my anger/frustration with the Republican Party (especially here in Chesterfield). Nationally I am livid with the party's continued efforts to govern more like democrats (liberals) then Republicans, whom I thought were supposed to be conservative. Limited government!? We have more bureaucracy now then we had under Clinton. I have seen no reduction in the size and scope of government since the Republicans took over the house back in 1994. Locally I am furious with your support of Art Warren for Chesterfield County's Board of Supervisors. Is this where the party is now? Supporting poor candidates simply because they are on "our team", with no consideration of whether he is the best candidate for the citizens of the county? Does the Constitution and limited government reign supreme or is it the "Party" first, foremost, and always? Mr. Warren's campaign, and your support of it, was repugnant. He wanted me to believe that he has controlled growth in the county and that Mr. Tubbs would have a building on every square inch of acreage. Have you driven out Hull St. Rd. lately? How about Charter Colony Parkway or North Woolridge Rd. This is your idea of "controlled" growth!? Where are the schools that will be needed when these new neighborhoods are completed? Can you say, "More trailers"? Either you believe the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution of the United States, and the Constitution of the Commonwealth of Virginia are the ultimate law of the land, or like you and those who are now running the party, you believe that the "Party", and it's members, comes first and that true liberty be damned. Mr. Warren, and those like him, should be held accountable for their spurious assertions. You, Mr. Cantor, Mr. Allen, Mr. Ware, and any others who offered their support to this type of campaign, and it's further usurpation of liberty over party affiliation, should be ashamed. I have always voted for the candidate that I thought would best serve the citizenry according to our Constitution. Apparently party affiliation is more important to many. I will finish by asking that you immediately remove my e-mail address from your records and cease sending me your "party" updates (fcbcynic@erols.com). I am loath to continue having my name associated with such an organization. In closing I ask that you know me to be, a frustrated voice for liberty, Floyd C. Bayne
