Family Channel?This letter was sent to the president of the Nickelodeon Network and addresses my concerns about a "news" show they planned to air. June 6, 2002
Mr. Herb Scannell c/o Dear Mr. Scannell, I am writing to you as a concerned parent of two children who heretofore have been allowed to watch Nickelodeon programming. I must tell you, in no uncertain terms, that from this date forward no one in my household will watch anything on the Nickelodeon network. The reason is your effort to have a Pro-homosexual program, hosted by Linda Ellerbee, on your network. I had always felt safe allowing my children to watch the programming on Nickelodeon, but your actions to have this show produced, and your ignoring of the thousands of parents concerned about this program, have told me all that I need to know about your network’s agenda. Rest assured that I will also be contacting the companies that will advertise on this show and make them aware of my concerns as well. As a network that touts itself as "family friendly" I cannot fathom how you can allow this type of propaganda to air on Nickelodeon. I can only hope that you and your contemporaries will come to your senses and realize the harm that you propose to do to children with such programming. This is not the sort of thing that should be seen on a "children’s" network. Thanking you for your time and attention to this matter I will close now asking that you know me to be, a concerned parent, Floyd C. Bayne
