Floyd's Opinion
Who Is Floyd Bayne?Well, it would appear that since you are reading this you have decided to
check out my website. It would seem obvious to me that one of the questions
foremost in your mind right now is, “Who is this Floyd Bayne guy?” I will take
this opportunity to give you a brief history. I was born in the year 1957 in Richmond, VA. I grew up in the southside
of Richmond at a time when it was called, "dogtown" or
"dogpatch". I grew up in Richmond and attended public schools there.
I even got bussed across town in high school. What fun that was! I am the product of a divorced couple and grew up with my mother and two
younger brothers. My father owned a supermarket (at one time as many as three)
where I have worked most of my adult life. I had a brief stint as a business
owner in my own right when I ran my own Private Security Services business from
1985 through 1989. I have always been a sports fan, especially ice hockey. Another special
interest of mine is and has been for many years, the history surrounding the
War of Northern Aggression (that would be the Civil War to the uninitiated). I
spent twenty (20) years in the hobby of Civil War re-enacting. I went from a
private to Sergeant in less than two years. I then commanded a company of
infantry that a friend and I started in 1985. I finished my tenure in the
hobby as a Colonel of a battalion-sized organization of over 250 members. This
I did for the last five years of my time in the hobby. The reason this status
was so special to me is because I was elected to the post by the membership. I have recently had to curtail my hockey playing in order to attend
college. I coach my son's hockey team and make a few extra bucks refereeing in
the men's and youth leagues. My wife of twenty-five (25) years teaches
Kindergarten and makes a mean Sunday Supper Cheese Pie. My family sold the last
of the supermarkets in November of 1999. I have since worked at a local
department store and tried my hand at home-improvement sales. I am currently
attending a local Junior college in an attempt to earn a degree, which I hope
will make me more attractive to prospective employers. I would still like to
find something that utilizes what writing skills I may have. Well, that’s what we will call the "Reader’s Digest" version of
who I am. Thanks for checking out my website. I hope you find something here that
interests you.
